Overview
ModulMoney is a personal finance application for macOS developed by WorldSeas. Your privacy is fundamental to how we designed this app.
Data Collection
ModulMoney collects no personal data whatsoever. Specifically:
- No account registration or sign-up is required.
- No personal information (name, email, phone number) is collected.
- No financial data (transactions, balances, account details) leaves your device.
- No usage analytics, crash reports, or telemetry data is collected or sent.
- No cookies, tracking pixels, or advertising identifiers are used.
- No third-party analytics or advertising SDKs are integrated.
Data Storage
All data you enter into ModulMoney — including transactions, accounts, categories, tags, receipts, and preferences — is stored exclusively on your Mac in a local database managed by the application.
- Data is stored in the app's sandboxed container on your local filesystem.
- Receipt files and attachments are stored in a local folder structure you can configure.
- User preferences (theme, language, sidebar settings) are stored locally via UserDefaults.
- No data is synced to any cloud service, server, or external storage.
Network Access
ModulMoney does not require an internet connection to function. The app makes no network requests of any kind. No data is transmitted to WorldSeas, Anthropic, Apple, or any third party.
Third-Party Services
ModulMoney does not integrate with any third-party services, APIs, analytics platforms, or advertising networks. The app operates entirely offline and self-contained.
Data Export & Backups
ModulMoney allows you to export your data in several formats (CSV, PDF, ZIP backup). These exports are saved to a location you choose on your Mac. The app never uploads or transmits exported data anywhere.
You are solely responsible for the security and storage of your exported files and backups.
Security
- ModulMoney supports optional per-account PIN protection to restrict access to sensitive accounts within the app.
- The app runs within macOS's sandboxed environment, limiting its access to only the files and resources it needs.
- We recommend using macOS FileVault disk encryption and regular Time Machine backups for additional protection.
Children's Privacy
ModulMoney does not collect any data from any user, including children under 13. Since no personal information is collected at all, the app complies with COPPA, GDPR, and other child protection regulations by design.
Your Rights
Since ModulMoney does not collect or process any personal data, traditional data subject rights (access, rectification, deletion, portability) under GDPR or similar regulations are not applicable. You have full control over all your data directly within the app:
- Access: all your data is visible within the app at all times.
- Export: export any or all data via CSV, PDF, or full ZIP backup.
- Deletion: delete individual transactions, accounts, or all data from within the app. Uninstalling the app removes all associated data.
Changes to This Policy
If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update this page with the new effective date. Since ModulMoney does not collect contact information, we cannot notify you directly — we encourage you to review this page periodically.
Any future version of ModulMoney that introduces data collection of any kind will require your explicit consent before any data is collected.
